Mixing Faith and Politics – Sat. April 5

2025 April 5
by WCR President Linda Stanton

We heard an informative presentation today by Maggee Hangge, Policy Associate, with the MN Catholic Conference of Bishops.  She talked about the initiatives of the Catholic Advocacy Network which shares similar concerns with other faiths. The Conference works with many partner groups such as Opportunity for All Kids, the Mn Family Council and the MN Alliance for Ethical Healthcare. One of their goals is to strengthen families. This session at the MN Legislature they are advocating to expand the MN Child Tax Credit, so it helps families in the middle class. Many families are moving out of MN because it is increasingly unaffordable to stay here. Other states such as Idaho and Florida have passed legislation that is much friendlier to families such as: school choice, support for crisis pregnancy centers, etc. To find out more about the Catholic Action Network (CAN) go here: https://www.mncatholic.org/actioncenter
